Preventative Services

We are able to provide information and advice on a variety of preventative services including:

  • Flu vaccination
  • Smoking cessation advice
  • Diet and Exercise.

Our reception staff may be able to help you with advice on these matters or they may advise that you make an appointment with a nurse or a doctor to discuss these.

Practice Pharmacist

Our Practice Pharmacist works closely with our doctors and our dispensary staff. As well as monitoring acute and repeat prescriptions she holds a weekly Hypertension Clinic and Ischaemic Heart Disease Clinic.

We have two physiotherapists working within the Medical Centre. Appointment times are available from reception. Your doctor may refer you to physiotherapy for the treatment.

If you wish to self refer to the physiotherapy department please speak to one of the reception team.

Community Ambulance

The community ambulance is funded by donations and manned by voluntary drivers. If you are interested in becoming a driver, or wish to make a financial donation, please contact Mrs Lyn King at the medical centre.

Flu Vaccinations

An influenza vaccination is particularly recommended for patients with heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and residents of nursing and care homes. An invitation letter will be sent to all patients aged over 65 and in any of the at-risk categories each September for the flu vaccination. If you are unable to attend the surgery, a home visit can be arranged to undertake this facility.

Nursing Services

As well as dealing with general nursing duties such as ear syringing, dressings and minor injuries, our nursing team provide clinic appointments in the following areas:

Health Visiting

Health visitors are specialist nurses who have responsibility for child health surveillance and all aspects of health promotion in the community. Our health visitor hours of work are 9am to 5pm, Mondays to Fridays.

The district nurses provide specialist nursing care to patients in the community.

Non-NHS Services

Not all services provided by your doctor are covered by the NHS. You may therefore be required to pay a fee for some services, e.g. medicals, private certificates, etc.

You will be informed by the receptionist if there is any fee to pay when you hand in the form for completion by the doctor. You will be required to pay the fee when collecting your documents.

Travel Immunisations / Vaccinations

Please make an appointment at least eight weeks in advance of your holiday to ensure adequate cover. A charge will be made for certain immunisations and vaccinations that are not covered by the NHS. A list of these charges is available at reception.
